The IC consists of 25 transistors, 2 diodes and 15 resistors. This new design was passed in the review in October 1971. This reduced the number of pins from 9 to 8, and enabled the chip to be fit in an 8 pin package instead of a 14 pin package. After the review was passed, Hans thought of a new idea of replacing the constant current source by a direct resistance. In the summer of 1971, first design was reviewed, that used a constant current source and had 9 pins. It is this design work of his, that is most prominent in Hans’s distinguished career in the field of Integrated Circuit technology. Its pins 8 (VSS), 13 (CKEN), and pin 15 (Reset) are connected to the ground. Pin 16 of the decade counter IC2 is connected to the supply. The IC’s out pin 3 is connected to clock pin 14 of IC4017 (IC2). A 100nF capacitor is connected between pin 5 (CV) of the timer and the ground. A 1k resistor (R2) is connected between pin 7 and the junction of pin 2 (trigger) and pin 6 (threshold).Ī 10♟ capacitor is connected between pin 6 and the ground pin of the 555 timer, whose ground pin 1 (GND) is connected to the circuit’s ground. In this circuit, a 10k resistor (R1) is connected between Vcc and discharge pin 7 of IC1.
